  • Pick a topic that impacts your classroom, maybe from the list above, and research it. Create a journal post on your findings.

ECU 525 – Due for May 1st

  1. Research for resources and examples of best practices of either self-directed learning and/or cooperative learning. Look for material that will help us in our discussion May 1st. I am especially interested in finding resources and examples of how teachers are preparing students for learning in an online environment. Please look for material that is most relevant for your students or for your students when they get older are in high school and beyond. What self direction skills, cooperative learning skills or online skills will they need to be successful in 5, 10 or 15 years from now?
  2. Write a blog entry detailing what you find and cite your resources, but not in APA format. Just include the link.
    • Copy and paste your information into the Blackboard discussion board as well.
      • I will have a discussion board item titled ‘Self-directed Learning, Cooperative Learning and Online Environments’

ECU 530 – Due for May 2nd

  1. Look up you school’s demographics information at OSPI.
    • Write a blog entry and highlight some of the details about the information you found.
    • Copy and paste your information into a Blackboard discussion board item titled, ‘School Demographics Information’.
  2. Find an article addressing cultural diversity in the classroom. How are schools and teachers best supporting their students diversity? What issues should we consider in helping support our leaning population and their families? We will have a discussion on May 2nd about key ideas.
    • Write a blog entry explaining findings with a link to the web site
  3. Case Study
    • Find an example on an issue or problem in your school or district related to diversity that we can discuss as a group. You do not need to have anything written. Just bring the issue or idea that you found for discussion and further action.
